Meet Anya
Owner & Principal Designer
I'm Anya Phillips — designer, Pacific Northwesterner, and the heart behind Heart That Built Me.
Design, to me, is deeply personal. There is no formula, no one-size-fits-all approach. What I do is listen — carefully — until I understand not just what you want your home to look like, but how you want it to feel. My goal is always the same: a space that reflects who you are at your core. Somewhere that exhales when you walk through the door.
I believe the most beautiful homes tell a story. One where a family heirloom sits beside a considered piece of art, where paint color and texture and light all speak the same quiet language. Building that story takes time, and honestly — that process is my favorite part.
When I'm not designing, I'm with my family — which is, without question, the greatest thing in my life. I'm married to my favorite person. We have two remarkable kids who, in a twist of fate, share a birthday six years apart. Our house is rounded out by Totch Wilson, a 70-lb Goldendoodle, and Louie, a 10-lb Shih Tzu who has never once been informed of his size.
My husband and I are both deeply committed to Medical Teams International, supporting displaced peoples around the world. I am also involved with Rebuilding Hope in Tacoma, WA.
The Pacific Northwest has been my home longer than anywhere else I've lived. Being surrounded by green, beautiful trees and water is the greatest inspiration.
Our Process
At the heart of every project is the same thing - you. Our client. Your story, the way you live your life, your passions and your desires for your space. That is where we start. Always.
From our first conversation to the final design presentation, every element and every decision is rooted in who we are designing for. Not trends. Not forumulas. Just you.
